YOU CAN GET OLD WITHOUT FEELING OLD
You've heard the old cliché
you're only as old as you feel. This is
a question for everyone who may be reading these words. How old do you
feel? This question is mainly directed
at someone who is in their late 50s, 60s and 70s, and beyond. Do you feel older than you are, or do you
feel younger than you are? I would
venture to say, the ones who feel older than their age would be in the majority. What can you do as an individual to reverse
this trend? What steps can you take to
make sure this doesn't happen to you? As
you get further into this book you will find the answers to these questions.
We as a population have gotten
into a pill popping and drug taking habit. If you have a headache there's a pill, if you have a backache there’s a
pill or a drug, if your leg hurts there’s a pill, and there are other pills and
drugs for all of your muscle pains and all of your joint pains. There's not a single area of the body; where
there is not pill or drug that does not claim to give relief. It makes you wonder how people got by before
they had all these pill, drugs and medications. What's really scary about taking all these pills and medications, after
you have been taking a medication, pill or drug for a few years? You find out

drugs which are very harmful and sometimes fatal. The only problem with that scenario, when we

Individuals, who have been
taking these drugs, would find out about the medical problems and deaths caused

to be a better way. I've always believed
that a good daily exercise regimen was better for you than all the drugs and
pills and medications in the world and certainly much safer. I know that when one exercises properly;
which means getting life-sustaining blood flowing to all of your organs, joints
and muscles; it can do wonders for your physical health. Just as getting blood
oxygen to the brain can do wonders for your mental health. Healthy exercise for the body and the mind is
the greatest substitute for drugs, pills and medications. As you will see later on is this chapter; I
will recall my own experiences about taking pills and medication for pain. I'm speaking directly to all of you out
there, who when you have the slightest indication of an ache or pain anywhere
in the body, you reach for the nearest painkiller or medication available. Many of you have repeated this scenario
hundreds or thousands of times. I, for
one do not believe it has to be this way. With proper exercise, your
body’s own mechanisms and recuperative powers can many times do the same thing

I know all of us have thought
about our own mortality, I know the question of when we will die and how we
will die are just part and parcel of the landscape of having lived on this

fact of life. We all know that accidents are going to happen; they are

exert some measure of control. We have the

away years from our lives. The cause and
time of our own natural death is left mostly in our own hands.
I ask you this question again, what control do we have over the process of our living and dying? I say we have a great deal of control. It is
entirely in your hands, it is entirely up to you.
I repeat, ‘You can get old,
without feeling old’. All of the actions
and circumstances I have mentioned in this chapter show the trials and
tribulations I went through to achieve the physical and mental state I
desired. I had the unshakable belief; just
because you are aging into your 60s 70s and beyond, your body does not have to
deteriorate and your mind does not have to lose its edge. It is now time for you to get serious about
your health and what you can do to improve it. I believe you can acquire the mental
toughness and the control to be able to do these exercises. It is up to you to make sure your body will
become physically fit and your mental well being will be excellent. I say emphatically “You Can Get Old, Without
